What is UpDating?

Any first date in New York City is more than two (or four) casual drinks at the local dimly lit cocktail bar. In essence, it can be the most common, fascinating, and exhilarating experience in modern romance. A veritable smorgasbord of blooming anticipation and love; the experience EVERYONE can relate to. Whether you are making-out waiting for the Uber, texting your friend from the bathroom about your date's choice of beer (this time, Guinness) or that get-up, or most often, pining for that kinda-sorta-maybe spark, a second date is the goal.

In this special occasion and one that has always merited a closer look, or better yet, a chance to view someone else’s date from the sidelines.

Flash to UpDating: a first blind date in front of a live audience. Through the lens of society’s current rewriting of what it actually means to go on a first date, two single New Yorkers are opening up their first date for YOU, the audience, to join the action, ask questions, and interact every step of the way. No strings or rules attached ;)

With the “DM Zone” for live audience interaction, the famed "Halftime Report" twist during the date, a concluding "vote" on a second date, and party afterwards, fasten your seatbelts for the kind of night that Instagram wouldn't even do justice for.

Hosted by Brandon Berman. Produced by Harrison Forman.

UpDating is on Fridays at Chelsea Music Hall. Doors open at 7pm; Show starts at 8:30pm.
